Independent Reviews You Can Trust
FSMCompare exists to help trade contractors make better software decisions — without having to wade through vendor-sponsored puff pieces or pay-to-rank directories. Here's exactly how we work.
Editorial Independence
FSMCompare is editorially independent. No software vendor pays to influence our rankings, review scores, or written assessments. Our editorial conclusions are reached through direct product testing and publicly verifiable data — not through commercial arrangements.
We maintain a strict separation between commercial relationships (affiliate links, described below) and editorial decisions. The existence of an affiliate link for a product does not improve its score, boost its ranking, or guarantee positive coverage. Equally, products without affiliate arrangements are reviewed on the same basis as those with them.
If a vendor contacts us to dispute a score or request changes to editorial content, we treat that as a red flag, not a negotiation. Our findings stand unless new factual information — a pricing change, a withdrawn feature, a corrected specification — warrants an update.
How We Evaluate Software
Every product on FSMCompare is assessed against the same framework. We weight criteria based on what matters most to the contractors who actually use this software day-to-day: field technicians dispatching jobs, office staff chasing invoices, and owners watching their margins.
Core Features
25%We test scheduling, dispatching, job management, invoicing, and payment collection hands-on. A product must handle these reliably before it earns a high score — they are non-negotiable for any field service operation.
Mobile Experience
20%Field techs live on their phones. We evaluate the native mobile app on real devices: speed, offline capability, ease of updating job status, capturing signatures, and collecting payment on-site.
Pricing & Value
20%We calculate the real monthly cost at multiple headcounts (1, 5, 10, and 20 technicians), including any per-user fees, add-on costs, and setup charges. We flag hidden fees where we find them.
Ease of Use
15%Powerful software that takes six months to learn is a liability for a 5-person plumbing crew. We assess onboarding, interface clarity, and how quickly a new technician can be productive.
Integrations & Ecosystem
10%Most contractors already use QuickBooks, Google Calendar, or a CRM. We verify which integrations are native versus bolt-on, and whether they work reliably in practice.
Customer Support
10%We assess support quality through direct contact tests, community forums, and published response-time guarantees. A broken job costs money — slow support compounds the damage.
Who We Are
FSMCompare was founded in 2026 by Isaac Holt, an independent software researcher and editor focused on field service operations, contractor workflows, and small-business software buying decisions. The site grew out of years spent comparing operational tools for service businesses and a frustration with comparison pages that read like vendor ads.
Isaac leads the editorial review process, including pricing checks, feature validation, and page updates. FSMCompare also draws on field service operator interviews, public pricing documentation, third-party review data, and hands-on product trials. We do not accept free software licenses in exchange for positive coverage — where we use vendor-provided trial access to conduct testing, we say so clearly in the relevant review.

Advertising Standards
Before display ads are added, FSMCompare will use clearly labeled ad placements that are visually separate from navigation, comparison tables, software cards, and affiliate calls to action. We do not label ads as editorial recommendations, and we avoid sticky or floating ad units unless they have been reviewed against Google AdSense and Microsoft publisher placement policies.
Corrections & Updates
Software changes constantly — pricing shifts, features get added or dropped, companies get acquired. We aim to update reviews promptly when material facts change, and we date every review prominently so you can judge its freshness. If you spot something that looks wrong or out of date, please contact us. We take accuracy seriously and will correct factual errors quickly.
Affiliate Disclosure
FSMCompare earns a commission when you purchase software through links on this site. These are affiliate arrangements — if you click a “Try free” or “Visit site” link and go on to subscribe, we receive a referral fee from the software vendor at no extra cost to you.
Affiliate links are marked with a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" attribute in our HTML. Not every product we review has an affiliate arrangement — and as stated above, the presence or absence of a commission relationship has no bearing on our editorial scores or recommendations.
This disclosure is made in compliance with the FTC's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255).
